PERTH
FREIGHT LINK — LAND ACQUISITION
741. Hon
LYNN MacLAREN to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to information on Main Roads' web page titled
''Perth Freight Link—Latest News''.
(1) Does the
minister agree that Main Roads' web page fails to convey that half of
the traditional owners consulted by Main Roads about Roe 8 have expressed
opposition to the disturbance of registered sites in the Beeliar wetlands?
(2) Does the
minister acknowledge that of the 54 traditional owners consulted by Main Roads
in 2010 on the plan to seek approval under section 18 of the Aboriginal
Heritage Act to disturb registered sites to allow Roe 8, 28 opposed that plan
and that in a follow-up survey of 45 traditional owners in 2012, 21 remained
opposed?
(3) Is the
minister aware that a previous report to the government in 1987 by O'Connor
et al found strong opposition in the Noongar community to Roe 8?
(4) Will the
minister ask Main Roads to change the information on its website so that it
accurately reflects the views of traditional owners on Roe 8?
(5) If no to
(4), why not?
