POSITIONS
434. Hon KATE DOUST to the Minister for Commerce:
I refer the Minister for Commerce to page 644 in volume 2 of
budget paper No 2.
(1) Can the
minister please outline whether the reduction in full-time employees from 92 to
62 is directly related to the removal of science from industry and technology?
(2) Can the
minister confirm that all employees previously working in the science area of
industry, science and innovation have now been transferred to the new Office of
Science?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) The number
of full-time equivalents reported in budget paper No 2 for service 3, ''Industry
and Technology'' includes staff from the industry and innovation
division and corporate services staff attributed to the delivery of service 3.
The reduction in FTEs from 92 to 62 is directly related to the transfer of
science from the industry and innovation division and a commensurate reduction
in the number of corporate services staff attributed to the delivery of service
3.
(2) All of the
functions from the science area of industry, science and innovation have been
transferred to the Office of Science, together with 14 FTEs.
