NB: The Cemeteries Act 1986 is administered by the Minister for Local Government and Regional Development. (2) (a) Public crematoria There are currently seven public crematoria licensed under the Cremations Act 1929 . They are located on the sites of the following cemeteries - · Allambie Park Cemetery and Crematorium (Albany); · Bunbury Cemetery; · Fremantle Cemetery; · Geraldton Cemetery; · Kalgoorlie Cemetery; · Karrakatta Cemetery, and · Pinnaroo Valley Memorial Park. (b) Private crematoria There are no private crematoria. (3) The criteria governing the establishment of new crematoria are set out in - · Section 4 of the Cremation Act 1929 , and · Part 1 of the Cremations Regulations 1954 . (4) Section 4(1) of the Cremation Act 1929 states that a licence to operate a crematorium may be granted to: a) the Board or controlling authority of any cemetery; b) any association incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act 1987 , established and constituted in connection with the cremation of dead human bodies, and holding a certificate under the hand of the Executive Director that such association is an association to which the provisions of this section may reasonably be extended.
