GRIFFIN COAL — KPMG
1496. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade:
I refer to the answer to my question
without notice 19 asked on 27 February that revealed the remarkable fourfold
increase to the initial KPMG contract from $240 000 in June 2023 to a new
rolling contract value of $990 000 for the provision of advice to government on
the insolvent and foreign-owned Griffin Coal.
(1) As of 13 November, how much of
the $990 000 contract has been paid to KPMG?
(2) Since its
contractual engagement, what reports has KPMG provided to government on the
insolvent and foreign-owned Griffin Coal and on which dates and in which
formats?
(3) Which
ministers, departments or agencies are in receipt of those reports, and what
specific and detailed responses have those reports triggered or elicited within
government?
(4) Is there a provision for the
$990 000 KPMG contract to be increased in value?
(5) If yes to (4), to what amount
and what are the precursor requirements for increasing the contract value?
