❓ Hon Giz Watson questions the Minister for Environment regarding the assessment of the Draft Forest Management Plan 2014-2023 under the EPBC Act for forest areas outside the Regional Forest Agreement (RFA). The Minister confirms no assessment has been made, as native timber harvesting is restricted to the RFA area.

SOUTH WEST FORESTS — NATIVE TIMBER
HARVESTING
788. Hon GIZ WATSON to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
I refer to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity
Conservation Act, the Draft Forest Management Plan 2014–2023 and the
current Regional Forest Agreement for the south west forest region of Western
Australia, which together exclude forestry operations undertaken in accordance
with a forest management plan from assessment under the EPBC act. I refer also
to map 1 on page 17 of the draft FMP, showing that the areas under the RFA and
those under the FMP are not entirely congruent.
(1) For those
forest areas that fall outside the RFA but within the draft FMP, has the draft
FMP been referred for assessment under the EPBC act; and, if so, when?
(2) If no to (1), will this referral be made; and, if so,
when?
(3) If no to (2), why not?
