Minister for Corrective Services:
I refer to the review of WA's
juvenile justice system announced by then Minister for Corrective Services, Hon
Bill Johnston on Tuesday, 4 October 2022.
(1) Has the review been completed?
(2) If no to (1),
when is it due to be completed, and when will it be reported to Parliament?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Corrective Services.
(1) The review of
the Young Offenders Act will examine the over-representation of young
Aboriginal people in detention, the effect of cognitive impairment and
disability on diversion, and detention-related issues.
(2) The
Department of Justice is continuing development of an issues paper, which will
facilitate stakeholder consultation and inform the next steps of the review.
