SOUTH WEST HEALTH CAMPUS — INTENSIVE CARE UNIT
The number of evacuations by the Royal Flying Doctor Service from Bunbury has soared by about 250 per cent during the past decade, with 275 last year alone. The largest proportion of these patients was transferred to intensive care units and coronary care units. Bunbury is now the biggest source of demand for the Royal Flying Doctor Service evacuations at a cost of approximately $1.5 million annually. In light of these alarming figures, will the minister give me an assurance today that the long-awaited ICU for the South West Health Campus will be operational within 12 months? Mr J.A. McGINTY

I would like to give the member that assurance but because of the lack of notice of the question, I am sorry that I am unable to. I will undertake to ascertain the precise dates of those developments and get back to the member.
