Schools—Discrimination
11. Hon Sophie McNeill to the Leader of the House representing the Minister for Education:
I refer to recent
reports that Western Australia, after New South Wales, has the country's
highest number of discrimination complaints against schools, and I note that
the recommendations of the Review of the School Education
Act 1999 (WA) were tabled in October last year.
(1) In light of this high number of complaints,
can the minister please provide an update on when recommendations will be
implemented in full and, if not, why not?
(2) What additional support has the government
made available to students who are currently impacted by shortcomings
identified in the act's review and, if there is none, why not?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. I saw the member's question
come in this morning. I have not got an answer that I have signed in my folder.
If it comes to me and I can sign it off, I will give it to the member at the
end of question time.
