COMMUNITY KINDERGARTENS —
ENROLMENT THRESHOLD
733. Hon DONNA FARAGHER to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I refer to the 2019 enrolments for
community kindergartens.
(1) For each
community kindergarten, will the minister list how many enrolments have been
received as at 10 August 2018; and, if not, why not?
(2) Has any
community kindergarten requested a six-week extension to allow for further
enrolments and/or an exemption from the new enrolment threshold requirements?
(3) If yes to
(2), will the minister advise which community kindergartens have made this
request?
(4) What is the
date upon which community kindergartens will be informed whether an extension
and/or exemption has been granted?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes. I table the attached
information.
[See paper 1698.]
(2) Yes.
(3) An exemption
for enrolment has been granted to Glen Forrest Community Kindergarten, Mount
Helena Community Kindergarten and Bullsbrook Community Kindergarten. An
exemption for threshold has been granted to Byford Community Kindergarten and
Mount Helena Community Kindergarten.
(4) The parent
management committees of community kindergartens with enrolments below 16 were
advised on 17 August 2018 that they have until the end of term 3, 2018—that
is, 21 September 2018—to attract the required number of enrolments. As
I have stated previously, case-by-case consideration will be given to community
kindergartens in which enrolment numbers are close to the required threshold
and the community kindergarten parent management committee can demonstrate that
other enrolments are likely.
