TRISTAN
DIMER — GRAYLANDS HOSPITAL
1041. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the minister's advice given in response to
question without notice 202 on 18 June 2013 in relation to Tristan Dimer that —
The
decision regarding compensation will be made by me once I have had an opportunity
to review the SSO advice, and only after the outcome of the SAT hearing on 24 June
2013.
(1) What contact
has the minister, her office, her department or WA mental health services had
with Mr Dimer since 24 June?
(2) What decision has the minister
made regarding Mr Dimer's compensation?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) Mr Dimer
continues to be supported by the Statewide Specialist Aboriginal Mental Health
Service. I meet with the director general of Health fortnightly, and I get an
update on Mr Dimer regularly at that time.
(2) The matter
relating to compensation has progressed following advice from the State
Solicitor's Office, plus there has been a State Administrative Tribunal
hearing, plus Mr Dimer has had representation from the Mental Health Law
Centre. The Minister for Health, in his capacity on the board of the
Metropolitan Health Service, has the responsibility to finalise that
arrangement, and that is being undertaken at the moment with advice from the
Treasurer.
