BANKSIA HILL DETENTION CENTRE —
ESCAPES
369. Mr F.M. LOGAN to the Minister for Corrective Services:
I have a supplementary question. Why was the anti-ramming
device in the sally port at the entrance of the prison, referred to earlier by
the minister, left unworkable for months when, had it been deployed, it would
most likely have stopped that vehicle?

As I said, there is an investigation into the circumstances
attending to the security of that particular issue, and I expect that I will
have an answer to that question in due course. It is not my place, at this
point in time, to pre-empt what the results of that investigation might be. I
await the results with eager anticipation, and when I get them, I will share
them with the member.
