(1) The Mental Health Commission has provided funds to address some of the immediate concerns at the Bentley Adolescent Unit (BAU). In conjunction with patients and staff it has been determined that the funding will be spent on the refurbishment of the internal and external living spaces to make them more welcoming and less institutional, and a training program through Orygen Youth Health, for 25 staff - including training on first episode psychosis, emerging borderline personality and psychological and psychosocial interventions.
All items will be acquired by 30 June 2011.
(2) The Mental Health Commission is considering future funding options with the Department of Health.
