Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to knowledge of the events of 22 and 23 February and
the leave of absence of the former Treasurer.
(1) When did
the director general of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Mr Peter
Conran, first become aware of the former Treasurer's leave of absence
request?
(2) Did Mr Conran in his role as cabinet secretary inquire as
to the reasons for the leave request?
(3) When did
Mr Conran first become aware of the incident with the former Treasurer's
ministerial vehicle?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) The
cabinet secretary was advised on Sunday 21 February 2014 that the former
Treasurer would not be present for the cabinet meeting the following day.
During the course of the following week, the Premier advised that Mr Buswell
was unwell and would be on personal leave. Arrangements were put in place on
Friday 28 February 2014 for the Premier to act in Mr Buswell's
portfolio responsibilities.
(2) The
cabinet secretary was advised that the Treasurer was unwell and would be taking
personal leave.
(3) Sunday 9 March 2014.
