(1) In general terms, what climatic differences exist between the Perth metropolitan areas and the Vasse electorate, and in particular, the annual rainfall in each geographical area?
(2) In general terms, is there any significant difference between ultraviolet light intensities and hence potential exposure levels for school students between Perth and Vasse?
(3) Are there any examples of fires that have spread from one classroom block to another as a consequence of the connecting covered walkways having assisted in the spread of those fires?
(4) For each example given in response to (3), from what materials were the covered walkways constructed?
(5) Are there any examples of fire having spread via covered walkways where the walkway construction materials were made from non-combustible materials such as steel?

(2) The Bureau of Meteorology would be able to provide this information. (3) Yes. In a fire at South Hedland Primary School in 1992, fire spread from one classroom block to another via the covered link. (4) The covered links at South Hedland Primary School were constructed of fibro cement sheeting, timber and steel. (5) The Department of Education is of the view that any physical link between buildings, regardless of the materials used in construction, would enhance the risk of fire spreading from one block to another.
