I refer to the media release
published today announcing changes to the state's firearm laws.
(1) What is the definition of a very
high powered firearm?
(2) What are the 56 types of
firearms that will become illegal?
(3) What are the 19 calibres of
ammunition that will become illegal?
(4) Will the government's buyback include
ammunition, parts and accessories for the proposed banned firearms?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following information has been provided to me
by the Minister for Police. The Western Australia Police Force advise —
(1) A firearm
designed to shoot at long range with precision, based on a review of the
discharged projectiles velocity and energy at 300 yards.
(2)–(3) I table a list of
prohibited firearms and ammunition.
