1061. Hon JACQUI BOYDELL to the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to all iron ore mining
operations in the Pilbara and the management of asbestos.
(1) Please detail
which companies have submitted asbestos management plans relating to what mine
sites to the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety.
(2) Please detail
the number of times and the locations where the department has been advised
that asbestos has been encountered in mining operations in the Pilbara.
(3) How often
does the department receive monitoring results from mining companies outlining
the mineral content of iron ore during ship-loading activities?
(4) Has the
department ever received notification from mining companies that members of the
community or port workers have been exposed to asbestos during ship-loading of
iron ore?
