In addition to the answer supplied to Question on Notice No. 3221, and given that 25 November 2010 sees the launch of the Male Parliamentarians for the Elimination of Violence against Women by the Parliamentary Group on Population and Development, I ask:
(a) could the Minister outline in detail the commitments the State Government will be making to the Federal Government's National Plan of Action to stop violence against women;
(b) to what extent do these commitments reflect the National Council to Reduce Violence Against Women and Children's findings in their
Time for Action
report;
(c) what particular commitments will be adopted to ensure Aboriginal women and women in regional and remote areas will be able to access appropriate services to stop violence against women; and
(d) what levels of funding will be allocated to these commitments?

(a) The detail is not yet available as the National Plan has not been finalised. However, the State is working with the Commonwealth to ensure it aligns to the WA Strategic Plan for Family and Domestic Violence 2009-2013. The Department for Child Protection is the lead agency representing WA in the development of the National Plan to Reduce Violence against Women and their Children 2010-2022 (the National Plan), and is a member of the COAG Officials Working Group.
A Family and Domestic Violence Senior Officers' Group has been convened with membership from relevant State and Commonwealth Government departments and the Women's Council for Domestic and Family Violence Services Inc.
The Senior Officers' Group, as an advisory body, will provide recommendations to the Minister for Child Protection in developing WA's implementation plan for the National Plan. WA will be required to develop a State implementation plan within four months of the release of the National Plan.
(b) The recommendations from the Time for Action report provide the foundation for the National Plan, including the six outcome areas recommended by the National Council to Reduce Violence Against Women and Children.
(c) The National Plan is expected to include a specific outcome area dedicated to improving the safety of Aboriginal women and their children.
(d) Yet to be determined.
