I refer to the Minister's answer to Question on Notice No. 8269 and in particular the answers to sections d, e and f, and I ask:
(a) how was the 6–12 gigalitres of water saved through the Target60 campaign calculated;
(b) what methodology was used to calculate this figure;
(c) what was the detailed formula used to determine these figures;
(d) why is there such disparity in the figures given, in that there appears to be between 6 billion litres and twelve billion litres of water that has been determined to be saved through the Target60 program; and
(e) were there any other water saving initiatives in place by the Water Corporation during the four month period that the Target60 campaign was running?

(a) Water saved through the Target 60 campaign period (1 December to 31 March) is estimated as the difference between predicted water supply and actual water supply.
(b) Water saved through the Target 60 Campaign period is estimated as the difference between predicted water supply and measured water supply from dams, groundwater sources, desalination facilities and service reservoirs.
(c) Refer (b).
(d) The range of 6 to 12 Gigalitres is indicative of the savings expected from Target 60 and other water use efficiency measures through the summer period.
In 2010/11, the estimated water savings during the Target 60 Campaign period was 13.5 Gigalitres. and in 2011/12, the estimated water saving during the campaign period was 6.9 Gigalitres.
In 2011/12, the predicted water supply was reduced to account for water savings embedded through previous years' water efficiency initiatives.
(e) Yes. H2ome Smart, Showerhead swap, Toilets to Go, Pensioner Retrofit Program, Water Efficiency Management Plans and Waterwise Programs.
