In relation to public housing in Collie, I ask:
(a) how many houses, units or apartments are vacant in Collie;
(b) how many people in Collie are on the waiting list for public housing;
(c) of these people, how many are on the priority waiting list;
(d) once people have applied and are approved for public housing, what is the average waiting period they are facing before they are allocated accommodation in Collie;
(e) what is the quarterly expenditure the Government is spending on maintenance and general up-keep of public housing in Collie;
(f) what measures does the Government have in place to help with the shortage of public housing in Collie; and
(g) in the 2012–2013 financial year, how many new homes will be built in Collie?

The Department of Housing advises:
(a) As at 31 July 2012, nil.
(b) 106 people (58 applications).
(c) Five people (four applications).
(d) From 1 August 2011 to 31 July 2012, 16 applicants were housed in Collie, waiting an average 111 weeks.  Of these four were housed as "priority", waiting only six weeks.
(e) Between 1 July 2011 and 30 June 2012, the average quarterly expenditure was $93 748.
(f) Since 2010 the Liberal-National Government has constructed over 3 400 new social houses and committed another $130 million in this year's budget for a further 433 homes throughout Western Australia. Further to this we have freed up and reallocated 1350 public houses by assisting over-income tenants to find alternative accommodation.
(g) There are currently no plans to build units for social housing in Collie in 2012-13.
