I refer to Minister’s media release of 26 June 2010 headlined ‘Visionary plan for Newman’, and I ask:
(a) how many extra residents have settled in Newman since the announcement of the visionary blueprint to revitalise Newman, double its population and transform the town into a major sub-regional service centre;
(b) how many residences have been completed for occupation by residents in Newman in each of the following categories:
(i) townhouses;
(ii) low-rise apartments;
(iii) small lot houses; and
(iv) large lot houses;
(c) what heavy industry has located to Newman since your announcement; and
(d) what potential heavy industry businesses are in discussion with the State Government in regard to utilising land in Newman?

(a) The Australian Bureau of Statistics 2011 Census figures will not be available until June 2012.
(b) (i) - (iv) Refer to Shire of East Pilbara.
(c) No land for heavy industry has been released by my departments.
(d) I am not aware of any discussions.
