Department of State Development advises:
(1-2a) A joint assessment process was undertaken by the Commonwealth and State governments to determine the most effective social and common use infrastructure investments in the East Kimberley as part of a 2009 commitment by the Commonwealth to contribute $195 million toward the Ord East Kimberley Expansion Project. A National Partnership Agreement provided the framework for implementation and monitoring of expenditure.
There are some 29 projects, each of which has a project implementation plan. Most projects have proceeded in line with original timelines. However, unforeseen circumstances such as the Warmun floods, higher than average 'wet season' rainfall and difficulty in accessing contractors has seen some slippage and change in project specifications. Such changes have been negotiated between the Commonwealth and the State.
All infrastructure projects within the East Kimberley Development Package have either reached completion or are under development, with the anticipated completion of all projects in the Package being June 2013.
Details of individual projects are available on the Department of State Development's website.
