I refer to the proposed upgrade to the northern section of Indian Ocean Drive, and I ask: (a) Can you confirm if Main Roads Western Australia (MRWA) are planning to or considering closing Indian Ocean Drive during construction works: (i) If so, what are the dates; (b) Please confirm the additional distance motorists will have to travel via the Brand Highway; (c) Will compensation be provided for business loss in Jurien Bay and Leeman: (i) If not, why not; (d) Will Leeman townsite be included in the Indian Ocean Drive upgrade; (e) Will Indian Ocean Drive in Leeman be widened; (f) Will inadequate drainage in the vicinity of the Leeman Roadhouse be addressed; (g) Will intersections be widened and improved in the Leeman town site; and (h) Will MRWA be considering a speed reduction from the current 80km/h on Indian Ocean Drive through the Leeman townsite?

(a) – (c) The exact timing of construction and any potential closures are yet to be determined.
(d) – (e) The scope of work through Leeman is yet to be finalised.
(f) Discussions with the owner of the Roadhouse and Shire of Coorow are ongoing. Drainage requirements will be assessed in the design investigations.
(g) Refer to (d) – (e) above.
(h) Main Roads will consider the impact of any improvements on the appropriate speed for vehicles, however the scope of work through Leeman is yet to be finalised.
