thank the member for some notice of the question. Noting that I am the minister
representing the Minister for Racing and Gaming, that minister has provided the
following answer.(1) The minister has beenadvised
by Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) that it currently has an open
investigation into the condition of Adorable Lady and the time she has been
based in WA.(2) The minister has
beenadvised by RWWA that in May 2024, it approved an
exemption for Adorable Ladyto have a fourth litter
after an application, which included a veterinary health check, was received
from the breeder.(3)The loss of any greyhound is
deeply concerning, a sentiment shared by all within the racing community.
Welfare standards are ever evolving and as the agency responsible for racing in
WA, RWWA is fully committed to conducting thorough investigations after an
incident, aiming to uncover potential causes and implement continuous
improvements in all aspects of animal welfare.
