refer to the minutes of the Shire of Derby/West Kimberley’s Special Meeting of
Council which took place on 30 January 2014, and I ask: (a) is
the Minister aware that the Shire currently has 18 employee vacancies, and that
this is seriously impacting the capacity of the Shire to perform its functions
and properly service the community; (b) if
yes to (a), what actions has the Minister taken to assist the Shire; and (c) if
no to (a), what action is the Minister going to take to assist the Shire?

(a) No, I was not aware.
(b) Not applicable
(c) I am unable to intervene in local government employment matters. However, I am advised that since the report to the special meeting of Council in January, nine positions have been filled, a further six have been advertised and the appointment process is nearing completion. A further three positions will be advertised shortly.
