VIOLENT
CRIME AND ANTISOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
179. Ms L. METTAM to the Minister for Police:
I have a supplementary question. Minister, violent crime is
increasing and Perth is again being dubbed ''fear city''. Is the
minister's confusion about his responsibility part of the reason for
and is compounding the spike in crime that we have seen under his watch?

If the member is going to quote something in this place, the
acceptable practice is to give the source of the quote so that we can criticise it, question it or perhaps bring into more focus
the nature of the ridiculous claims that are often made by the member
for Vasse. She never gives references. She regularly makes up quotes or just
says quotes—claims quotes—without giving the source. She did it
in the first part of the question, but she did not in the second part.
I have no idea what she is
talking about. Perth is not fear city. Perth is one of the most attractive
places on the planet in which to live. I am appalled that people
continually seek to talk down this beautiful city and this state in the way
that the member does. She should be ashamed of herself. This is the most
attractive place in the world right now as a consequence of the fantastic
outcome that has been achieved through the pandemic. I cannot believe that she
somehow thinks that there is some positive contribution in talking down the
state and the city.
