A parliamentary question regarding the Ellenbrook bus rapid transit system is met with a response that deflects specific answers, criticizes the previous government's planning, and highlights current government's commitment to the area. The response avoids providing concrete details on cost, design, analysis, cost/benefit ratio, or construction timeline.

I refer to draft plan, Public Transport for Perth in 2031, and the lack of detail provided on the Government's plan for an Ellenbrook bus rapid transit system, and ask:
(a) what is the estimated cost of this project;
(b) has a detailed design of the project been completed;
(c) what analysis was undertaken to consider the benefits of this proposal against other similar projects for the corridor;
(d) is there a cost/benefit ratio for the proposal; and
(e) when is construction expected to commence?

As the Member would be aware, after the significant lack of planning and foresight shown by the previous Labor Government on many projects including the Ellenbrook Rail Line, this Liberal-led Government is committed to ensuring that detailed planning and costing is completed before announcing detailed information on major projects.
This Liberal-led Government is proud of the achievements thus far in the Ellenbrook area, with several major road projects announced, enhanced daily bus services and a new bus route for the residents of Aveley marking the beginning of a long term commitment to fix the neglect of the previous Labor Government.
The Minister for Transport looks forward to working with effective local representatives such as Frank Alban MLA and Mayor Charlie Zannino who show a genuine concern and passion for the Ellenbrook region.
(a - e) Work on the project is continuing and costs and timelines will be made public as appropriate after government makes a final decision.
