BELMONT
CITY COLLEGE — RESOURCES
1010. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to
cuts to school funding.
(1) Can the
minister confirm that Belmont City College is set to lose over $230 000 in
funding in 2014 as a result of state government cuts; and, if this is not
correct, what is the total value of the cuts to this school?
(2) Will the
minister ensure that the recently announced federal funding will offset the
total value of cuts to Belmont City College; and, if not, why not?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) Estimated
cash changes for Belmont City College in 2014 total $172 207. These cash
changes relate to the school support program resource allocation, long service
leave liability levy, 1.5 per cent procurement savings, cessation of
performance management funding, and cessation of some school grant components.
Final cash changes will depend on actual student enrolments in 2014. It is
forecast that the college will have fewer teacher FTEs in 2014 than it does in
2013. This is due to lower student enrolments, combined with changes to
staffing formulas to ensure teacher FTE numbers are maintained in 2014. Based
on forecast student enrolments, the school will have 0.58 FTE fewer Aboriginal
and Islander education officers in 2014.
(2) National
partnership funding for 2013 has been paid to all participating schools. New
commonwealth funding arrangements are currently being finalised between the
Western Australian government and the commonwealth government.
