787. Hon COLIN TINCKNELL to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to additional resources for the Western Australia
Police Force during the COVID crisis.
Can the minister please outline, by way of a monetary figure
and FTE staff numbers, what additional resources have been provided to the
Western Australia Police Force since March to appropriately and adequately
manage the additional responsibilities and duties it has had to undertake since
the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, particularly to maintain the hard border
and quarantine arrivals in Western Australia?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question. The following answer has been provided to me by the Minister for
Police.
The Western Australia Police Force advises that $126.3
million has been provided, which comprises $91.2 million, which is made up of
$73.4 million for the recruitment of 150 additional police officers; $17.8
million to expand police tracking and tracing capabilities; and $35.1 million
to meet additional operational costs incurred by the WA Police Force.
