The Minister Replied:
(1) No.
(2) Not Applicable.
(3) In the context of the State Government Nursing Home Restructure Project a Request for Proposal for the redevelopment and transfer to the non-government sector of Numbala Nunga was advertised and closed on 28 July 2000. The one proposal submitted was not accepted as it did not meet all the requirements or the intent of the Request for Proposal document and was not consistent with current Government policy requirements for the State to withdraw as a provider of nursing home services. It is intended that consultation recommence with key stakeholders to develop a Residential Aged Care plan for the Kimberley Region as part of Northealth 2020, a strategy for the future of health services in the north west.
An amount of $419 976 has been committed in 2000/01 as part of an upgrade and maintenance process that is required for the existing facility to achieve Commonwealth certification and accreditation status with works due to be completed in January 2001.
