(a) Customers in the locality of Jarrahdale experienced three consecutive outages from 18:48 on 2 January 2008 to 20:23 on 3 January 2008. The outages were as follows:
· 2 January 2008 - 6:48 pm to 8:02 pm - restoration to some customers after 34 minutes.
· 3 January 2008 - 2:25 am to 5:25 am.
· 3 January 2008 - 12:47 pm to 8:23 pm - restoration to some customers after 148 minutes.
(b)The length of an outage is determined by the property that was affected by the outage for the longest.
(c) Power was cut on both days by a line protection device. The cause for the first two outages is listed as unknown. An unknown cause is recorded when a fault has occurred on the network, but no evidence has been left behind as to what caused it. The third outage was identified as a cable fault. Given the timing of the previous two outages it is possible that these may have been attributed to the cable fault as well.
(d) No notice was provided to customers about these outages.
(i) Not applicable.
(ii) All three of these outages were unplanned. Western Power did not have any knowledge that they were going to occur and thus could not have provided notification.
