now restricted;

(c) what was the reason for this change;
and
(d) were any stakeholders consulted prior
to this change?

I thank the Leader
of the Opposition for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) No changes have been made to the courts
listings information page that is published daily on the eCourts Portal.
Changes have been made to the general public's access to future criminal
listings on the eCourts Portal of Western Australia. A public search for a
specific person or matter on eCourts now requires the searcher to enter the
person's date of birth, as well as their full name. Prior to the change in May,
a date of birth was not required for non–Children's Court matters. In relation
to the Children's Court, the full name, a charge number and a date of birth are
required. Some changes have been made to the eCourts Criminal Portal for
registered users. None of the changes made have restricted access to
information that can be released in accordance with the legislation. The
Department of Justice, in consultation with heads of jurisdiction, regularly
reviews how readily accessible court information available on eCourts is to
ensure it is appropriate and provided in accordance with court practices and
relevant legislation.
