The State contributes funds to Local Governments under the State Road Funds to Local Government agreement. Part of this funding is provided through Regional Road Groups, particularly to assist with requirements on roads of regional significance. The Shire of Wongan-Ballidu's allocation for 2002/03 is $223,460 of which $130,000 is allocated for works on the Wongan Hills-Burakin Road (or southern portion of 'Hospital Road'). Since 1998/99 $502,900 of State funds (including the 2002/03 allocation) have been provided to the Shire of Wongan-Ballidu for upgrading works on 'Hospital Road'.
