Police—Rough sleeping—Move-on
notices
973. Hon Dr Brad Pettitt to the minister representing the Minister for Police:
I refer to community
reports that people sleeping rough are being given move-on notices by police
and are not being given the opportunity to collect their belongings to take
with them.
(1) Do WA police have any written policy or
guidance regarding whether a person sleeping rough who is given a move-on
notice can collect their belongings, including blankets and sleeping bags,
before vacating the area?
(2) If yes to (1), what is the written policy or
guidance?
(3) If no to (l), why not?
(4) Can the minister publicly commit to WA police
allowing people sleeping rough to gather their belongings before needing to
vacate an area due to a move-on notice?

the timeframe allocated.
(3) Not applicable.
(4) WA police will continue to make all necessary
considerations when issuing move-on notices.
