IRON ORE EXPORT VOLUMES — PREMIER'S COMMENTS
797. Mr W.J. JOHNSTON to the Minister for Mines and
Petroleum:
I have a supplementary question. Does the minister agree with
the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia that Western Australian
iron ore exporters are price-takers and not price-makers?

AnswerView source ↗

I have not heard that comment from the Chamber of Minerals
and Energy. In relation to my interaction with the Chamber of Minerals and
Energy on the subject of iron ore, it has made a submission in relation to the
royalty rate for iron ore.
Several members interjected.
Mr W.R. MARMION : I am
answering the question in relation to my interaction with the Chamber of
Minerals and Energy on issues that it has talked to me about. It has not raised
with me any of the issues that the member has raised, and I will sit down if he
likes.
