BUS SERVICES — ROUTE 354
809. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to changes to the 354 bus
service.
(1) Why did the
Department of Transport not spend the same time consulting at Nollamara
Shopping Centre as it did at Mirrabooka Shopping Centre, given that local
Nollamara residents are those adversely affected by this planned change and the
354 bus is the only bus servicing Nollamara shops?
(2) Was one
advertisement in the local paper deemed adequate and did it refer to reduced
services in the Nollamara area?
(3) How does
reducing service frequency at a time of extensive urban infill in Nollamara sit
within the government's overall plans for Perth?
(4) What is the proposed time frame
for these changes?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question.
(1) Transperth
service planning and Transdev representatives conducted public consultation on
a number of service changes, including the introduction of the new route 970
bus service to replace the current route 870, the new route 370, and the new
route 384 to replace the current route 354 bus service. The new route 384 bus
service will continue to serve Nollamara Shopping Centre.
(2) The
advertisement in the Eastern Reporter on 29 March 2016 is complemented by Transperth's standard marketing
procedure, which advises of service changes by way of posters on buses
operating on relevant routes; My Alerts emails to registered customers; service
changes website notices; and letters to relevant stakeholders, including
schools, other education institutions, shopping centres, seniors' homes
and local government authorities.
