One thing that I have noticed about
the member for Dawesville's questions is that they are juvenile and
political. The sort of questions in which he mentions electorates—it is
all about the electorates—show that he does not care about people. It
is about the electorates and where he can score a political advantage. That is
what he does. This government has had the lowest increase in fees and charges.
This government cut payroll tax this week and land tax last week. The week
before, we cut the fees for students going to TAFE. We froze TAFE fees when we
came to office; the former government put them up by 500 per cent. If there is
one thing that people in the outer suburbs understand, it is that we need a strong
TAFE system for our sons and daughters to go to after high school that is
affordable and accessible. That is what we have achieved. The week before that,
we announced a huge increase in maintenance
in hospitals and schools around Western Australia designed to fix problems and
create jobs. The reason we can do that is that we know how to manage the
state's finances. The record of the last 20 years in this state shows
that only Labor can manage the state's finances and get jobs back.
