❓ Hon Robin Chapple questions the Department of State Development (DSD) about discrepancies in their reported awareness of a 1991 Aboriginal Sites report related to the Browse LNG project at James Price Point, specifically regarding a file note from the Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA). BROWSE LNG PROJECT — JAMES PRICE
POINT — ABORIGINAL SITES REPORT
721. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for State Development:
I refer to page 3 of the supplementary information provided
by the Department of State Development to the annual estimates hearing for the
Department of State Development held on Thursday, 7 November 2011, and the file
note on James Price Point dated 12 January 2009 from the Department of
Indigenous Affairs to DSD on the same matter as the WA Museum's July
1991 report on the ethnographic survey of exploration applications E04/645 and
E04/647. Why did the Department of State Development state to the committee
that it first became aware of the existence of the 1991 Department of
Aboriginal Sites report in August 2010 as a result of a passing reference made
to it in a Kimberley Land Council report to the Browse LNG Precinct Strategic
Assessment, and not identify to the committee that it had been in receipt of
that information provided by DIA in January 2009, some 19 months earlier?
