LIVE EXPORT — MEAT INDUSTRY CONFIDENCE
417. Ms M.J. DAVIES to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Has the Premier's government done an economic impact assessment in
relation to the federal Labor government's flawed decision to ban live
sheep export on our state's economy?

AnswerView source ↗

Obviously, we undertake economic
assessments across all our industries, and this is no different. As a result,
we will continue to advocate on behalf of Western Australian farmers —
Ms M.J. Davies interjected.
Mr R.H. COOK : — and
we will do a better job than you, member! We will do a better job than you.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please!
Mr R.H. COOK : All we see
from you is negativity, disinterest and shouting from the bleachers over there.
We do not see proper advocacy from you. We see a group of lost souls simply
trying to pick up on the latest issue that someone else has been running on.
Mr P.J. Rundle : Live export
is an issue.
Mr R.H. COOK : It is an
issue, member. Welcome to the party, because we have been working on this issue
for years now—working with the previous federal government and this
federal government to protect the interests of WA farmers. Members opposite
have been missing in action and have only just taken an interest of late.
Welcome to the show.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Order, please!
