(1) How many apprentices are currently employed?
(2) How many trainees are currently employed?
(3) Are there currently any plans to increase the number of apprenticeships and traineeships immediately?
(4) If yes to (3), what are the proposed increases?
(5) What funds have been allocated in 2009-10 to recruit more participants for apprenticeships and traineeships?

(1) Nil. There are 204 apprentices engaged by Group Training Organisations on behalf of DTF.
(2) 5 trainees employed directly by DTF. 6 trainees engaged by a Registered Training Organisation on our behalf.
(3) Yes
(4) 27 new Apprentices in the Kimberley. 71 new Apprentices have already been employed in this financial year as a result of Building the Education Revolution (BER), and funding is budgeted for a further 9. We will be recruiting 10 trainees (2 with disabilities and 6 Indigenous prior to 30/6/10) and 2 School Based Trainees for 2011
(5) $2.5 million committed by the BER Initiative to place a total of 80 new apprentices in 2009-10. An additional $1.8 million has been allocated as part of the East Kimberley Development Package to fund 20 apprentices in Kununurra, along with a further $360,000 to fund 7 apprentices on the West Kimberley Regional Prison in Derby. $125,342 has been allocated to traineeships.
