Further to question without notice No. 333 of 2011, regarding negotiations with a foreign investor for the purchase of native forest logs, I ask -
(1) What are the name(s) and the nationality or nationalities of the overseas investor(s) with whom the Minister or the Forest Products Commission are/or have been in negotiations with, regarding the processing of Western Australian native forest logs?
(2) Would the processing take place, -
(a) in Western Australia; or
(b) overseas?
(3) Are the negotiations ongoing?
(4) Over what amounts, species and grades of logs are the negotiations being conducted?
(5) Do these negotiations involve, -
(a) a contract that would extend beyond the date that the current Forest Management Plan 2004-2013 expires (31 December 2013); or
(b) an Investment Security Guarantee?
(6) Has a trial shipment(s) been sent to the investor(s) or its agent?
(7) If yes to (6), -
(a) on what date(s) and what amounts, species and grades of logs were sent; and
(b) who were the owner(s) of the logs at point of loading on the ship?
(8) Since these negotiations concern a publicly-owned resource, namely State forest, when will their existence and outcomes be made known to the public?
