I refer to the Western Australian Family and Domestic Violence State Strategic Plan 2004-2008 and the $1.5 million allocated over four years for the establishment of a women’s refuge in the northern outer metropolitan area and ask -
(1) How many women’s refuges are located in the metropolitan area?
(2) How many beds were available for victims of domestic violence in the metropolitan area at 14 June 2006?
(3) How many additional beds will the north outer metropolitan area refuge provide for individuals fleeing domestic violence?
(4) What is the breakdown of costs for the $1.5 million allocated towards the northern outer metropolitan area refuge?
(5) At 14 June 2006, what was the level of unmet need for beds across the metropolitan area for victims of domestic violence?

(2) There were 71 crisis places and 13 transitional places for women with (or without) accompanying children and 33 crisis places and 12 transitional places available for single women escaping domestic violence. (3) It is expected the outer metropolitan area refuge will accommodate five to six women, with or without accompanying children. It is anticipated transitional accommodation may also be available. (4) New Domestic Violence Service 06/07 $200,000 07/08 $414,000 08/09 $428,000 09/10 $443,000 Total $1,490,000 (5) There is no published data in relation to unmet need for accommodation in metropolitan domestic violence refugees on 14 June 2006.
