MORLEY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL — AIR
CONDITIONING
311. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the
Minister for Education:
I refer to Morley Senior High School's
$100 000 funding for air conditioning upgrades.
(1) Is the minister aware that —
(a) the school is
unable to utilise this funding to conduct much needed air conditioning upgrades
due to insufficient power supply to the school;
(b) currently
when the school is operating, it diverts significant power from the surrounding
community, which in turn experiences regular disruption and blackouts; and
(c) it has been
estimated that the cost of upgrading systems servicing the school and
surrounding areas would be $250 000?
(2) Will the government provide the
funding for these essential upgrades; and, if not, why not?
(3) If no to (2), what does the
minister expect the school to do with the funding?
