JAMES LARSSON — RESIGNATION PAYOUT
467. Mr B.S. WYATT to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Referring to the letter that
the Premier just quoted from, in light of the fact that Mr Larsson was not
entitled under resignation to accrued pro rata long service leave, nor was he
entitled to four months' salary, nor was he entitled to $7 000 to fly
him back to Brisbane, how can that be interpreted as anything more than hush
money?

The negotiation of his departure from government was handled
by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet, not by me.
Mr B.S. Wyatt :
Hush money! That is all it was. It was well above and beyond any entitlements
he had.
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
The accusation of hush money would imply there was some agreement between the
state and Mr Larsson that he could not speak about. That is simply untrue. It
is a completely false claim.
