AUDITOR GENERAL AMENDMENT ACT
1247. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the minister representing the
Treasurer:
My question without notice of which
some notice has been given is to the Leader of the House representing the Treasurer.
I refer to the Auditor General Amendment
Act 2022.
(1) Has the act been proclaimed by
the Governor?
(2) If no to (1),
why not?
(3) Has the
Treasurer read the Auditor General's annual report for 2022–23?
(4) Will the
Treasurer publicly respond to the issues raised by the Auditor General in her
annual report on page 111 in relation to potential political interference with
this important independent institution?

Just to confirm, honourable member,
I represent the Treasurer in this place. I thank the member for some notice of
the question.
(1)–(4) The
Auditor General Amendment Act 2022 has not been proclaimed while feedback from
the Auditor General on its proposed implementation is being carefully
considered. Existing protocols as outlined in the Cabinet handbook have
been in operation under successive governments since 2007 and continue to
operate.
