JOONDALUP HEALTH CAMPUS — FATALITY
765. Ms L. METTAM to the Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question. I thank
the minister for her explanation. Will the minister commit to ensuring that affected families are given a voice in future
healthcare reviews such as this one to prevent the feeling of exclusion and oversight?

AnswerView source ↗

It is always my view that families
have a voice. It is always my view that families are heard. It has always been
my view that parents should be heard in any episode of care that they have with
their children. That was not in this instance the purpose of that review, which
was a clinical oversight of clinical decisions. It was not necessarily how it
interacted with the family and the outcomes. In the root-cause analysis process
and the severity assessment code 1 process, families and consumers should
always be interviewed and engaged and their views should be very much heard.
