PICKERING BROOK — METROPOLITAN REGION SCHEME
AMENDMENT
733. Ms M.J. DAVIES to the Minister for Planning:
I refer to the proposed metropolitan
region scheme amendment for the Pickering Brook town site expansion, seeking to
rezone approximately 17 hectares of land from rural to urban to facilitate
residential development.
(1) Can the
minister please provide the Parliament and the Pickering Brook community with
an update on the progress of this proposal?
(2) Given that
the minister advised residents in April this year that the matter was still
under investigation after nearly seven years of investigations and reports, can
he please advise what has been done over the last six months to progress the
proposal?

(1)–(2) I thank the member
for her question.
Mr R.R. Whitby : The federal
candidate is asking.
Mr J.N. CAREY : That is
right. I am slightly perplexed.
I say respectfully that I understand
the aspirations of all communities across Western Australia. There can be very
sensitive issues in relation to both conservation and also the need for
housing. I am always up-front about that. We give consideration to a range of
proposals and we make decisions in due course as part of the planning process.
