(1) All competitors who race Speedway at the Perth Motorplex are required to have a National Association of Speedway Racing (NASR) license which includes Personnel Accident insurance. The Management of Perth Motorplex deals directly with the Head Office of NASR and is not affiliated with Speedway West.
(a) All motorsport events scheduled at the Perth Motorplex are sanctioned by the relevant National sporting organisation. All these organisations provide the driver licensing, technical, safety and racing regulations for a number of types of vehicles and classes of competition for their particular sport. In addition each sanctioning body provides Public Liability Insurance for the venue along with Personal Accident Insurance coverage for Competitors and Crew members.
For each of these event types the Perth Motorplex has an event permit from the relevant organisation and all competitors entering the event are licensed and insured by the specific sporting organisation.
(2) No, but the issue has been pointed out to the Minister.
(a) Not applicable
(3) The Minister's office has raised the issue with VenuesWest which has advised this issue was also raised with Mr Ripper when he was in Government. VenuesWest also advised that it, as owner of the facility, had investigated the matter and received advice from the State Solicitor's Office. That advice confirmed that the venue manager was complying with their licence agreement obligations relevant to the complaint.
