BROWNLIE TOWERS — PLUMBING WORKS
59. Hon KATE DOUST to the
minister representing the Minister for Housing:
I refer to the Minister for Housing's letter to me on
24 December 2013 regarding Brownlie Towers.
(1) Will the
minister please outline the full scope of works identified by Quattro Project
Engineering required to resolve the plumbing issues at Brownlie Towers?
(2) What is
the estimated cost of these works?
(3) When are
these works planned for completion?
(4) What
involvement has the Department of Housing's regional office had with
the Brownlie Towers residents' association?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question. The Department of Housing advises —
(1) Following
receipt of the Quattro report in October 2013, the Department of Housing has
been working with Quattro to address the plumbing issues at Brownlie Towers.
(2) When a
final scope of the works has been determined, a detailed costing report will be
completed by the appointed quantity surveyors.
(3) The time
it will take for the work to be completed will be determined once the full
scope of works has been finalised.
(4) The
department's regional manager met with the president of the Brownlie
Towers residents' association in early October 2013 and also attended a
residents meeting in November 2013 at which a number of committee members were
present. This meeting was held to specifically discuss regeneration work and
plumbing issues. The department's area manager is also in regular
contact with tenants of Brownlie Towers, including the president of the
committee, providing relevant advice and updates.
