In relation to the Environmental Protection Authority's (EPA's) assessment of the Western Australian Government's proposed Browse Liquefied Natural Gas hub at James Price Point, I ask —
(1) Has the Minister placed any limitations or restrictions on the work of the Appeals Convenor or the Appeals Committee in relation to their timeframe or process for delivering a report on the appeals relating to EPA Report 1444?
(2) If yes to (1) —
(a) what are these limitations or restrictions;
(b) when were they announced; and
(c) under what powers did the Minister cause the limitations or restrictions to be made?

(1) No. It is anticipated that the Appeal Committee's report on the appeals relating to EPA Report 1444 will be finalised in October 2012. The Appeal Committee will investigate the appeals in accordance with the requirements of the
Environmental Protection Act 1986
so as to determine the substantial merits of the case and it will use such resources and make such enquiries that are necessary to provide comprehensive advice and it will not compromise the process to do that.
Once the Appeals Committee has completed its investigations, a report will be presented to the Minister for Environment who will determine the appeals, having regard to the Appeal Committee's advice.
