SERVICES
122. Hon GIZ WATSON to the minister representing the

I refer to the recommendation for
the transfer of responsibility for prisoner health services from the Department
of Corrective Services to the Department of Health, made by the Inspector of
Custodial Services in his 2006 report ''Thematic Review of Offender
Health Services'' and also in the department's 2008 response ''Prison
Health Services Final Report''. I also refer to the 2010 report of the
Department of Corrective Services, ''Assessment of Clinical Service
Provision of Health Services of the Western Australian Department of Corrective
Services''.
(1) Does the minister support the
transfer of prisoner health services to the Department of Health?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to
(1), what steps has the minister taken towards achieving the transition and
what is the time line for completing the transition?
